International migration has become an important social and demographic problem in the world in recent decades. As international migration has also become prominent in Iran and the impact of national identity on it has been less studied, this study has aimed to examine the relationship between national identity and emigration among individuals with specific skills. This quantitative study was conducted using a survey method. The population consisted of citizens aged 18-50 in Bushehr who possess a particular skill. A total of 351 people were selected using multi-stage random sampling. The emigration was assessed by a dichotomous nominal question and respondents categorized into two groups: 1) I am thinking of emigration, 2) I am not thinking of emigration. Ahmadi's five-factor national identity questionnaire (2007) was used to measure national identity. The reliability of the research instrument was determined using the test-retest method and the alpha coefficient respectively. Based on the descriptive findings, 73.5% of respondents are thinking of emigration, while 26.5% are not. Furthermore, the results from the logistic regression analysis indicate a significant negative correlation between national identity and emigration. Moreover, among the demographic variables, only the engineering skill and age have a significant relationship to emigration. This research concludes that by strengthening the foundations of national identity among citizens, the emigration, as one of the social problems of the country in recent decades, can be reduced.
