As the result of information explosion and communication development and accordingly, globalization in the modern world, a new window of science has opened and the post-modernism era has been born by raising the uncertainty problem and coming to the end of deconstructivism. Following this, post- modern art and post-modern clothing (conceptual clothing) were also formed.
Post-modern artists unveil their concepts by composing clothing with visusl arts, human characteristic, body gesture and sometimes acting abilities. This is how clothing is represented as an art concept. The true purpose of these clothes is not just coverage or beauty; they show ones feelings and thoughts.
In this article, documentary methods and analytical approach based on French sociologist , Pierre Bourdieu ,are used to study the concept of clothing in post-modern art.
The research's findings indicate that artist clothing is implied despite an art work and expression that it's accompany with human being in all times causes a powerful connection between them. Therefore, we can see that the representational form of clothing is in contrast with the practical idea of clothing and tries to gain a position in a filed, which Bourdieu named it, the power field. Nevertheless, lack of cultural, economic, and social investments has caused failure of the new trend and given meanings of clothing in art power field leaving no good position for it.
