Abstract
Child marriage is a socio-cultural phenomenon that affects girls' lives in some parts of the country and leads to many personal and social problems and damages. The present research was compiled with the aim of investigating the phenomenon of child marriage in rural society. The research method is qualitative and a semi-structured in-depth interview technique has been used to collect data. For this purpose, an in-depth interview was conducted with 38 women using a targeted sampling method. Data analysis based on grounded theory was analyzed using theoretical coding of interviews. The findings of the research showed that the causal and effective conditions in the spread of the phenomenon of child marriage in the villages are; Rural and livelihood poverty, socio-cultural poverty, use of virtual space, unstable family, gender attitude, local customs and traditions regarding marriage, early sexual maturity, etc. In addition, this phenomenon has various negative consequences from the point of view of the interviewees, including; Experiencing violence by children of spouses and being beaten, lack of decision-making power and involvement of families, escape from cohabitation and increase in divorce rate, inability in marital responsibilities, inability to maintain health, increase in the number of children of divorce due to pregnancy. It has had unwanted events, lack of interest of couples, etc.
